Epilogue

Peaceful right?

JOURNEY INTO THE 2020s ~ email #1 "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away. Now it looks as though they're here to stay. Oh, I believe in yesterday." - The Beatles Dear FutureMe, Hi. Were you expecting me? Probably not. As of making this email, my 16th birthday is one month and a day from now. The 2020s is only the 2nd decade I've lived in so far, so I intend to make it... Engaging. I randomly picked (https://www.random.org) 7 dates between 1 September 2020 and 31 December 2030 to send emails to myself. I might also send private emails to myself with personal info, but most of the stuff will be on these emails. Each email is around one year to almost 2 years apart. Over the next few days I'll send off emails to the future, and then a final 8th one, set for exactly 10 years later, in 2030. Wow, 2030 seems so far away. (also, to the public strangers of the website who are reading this, hello! If you want to read on, go right ahead!) So let's start with the basics, in case for some reason Future me has forgotten. Hi, I'm Br_____ ____ (I'm not keen on giving away my name). Born in 2004. Personality is INFP (took the test at the start of this year). I like creating things, like comics and card games (which is my source of popularity in class, as well as being urr, good academically). Currently staying at home because of the virus pandemic. The mid year exams would have already passed, and I would be very satisfied for having studied them, except the virus has messed everything up since March. Every since then, I've been having class meetings on Zoom. It's been kinda fun, but it gets dreary, and I'm worried that my eyesight will deteriorate from looking at my computer screen too much. I fear that it is already beginning to. That'll be fun to see over the next few years. I wonder if I'll be wearing glasses in 10 years? I really hope there's no character limit for this email. Anyway, I've also been practicing typing in Dvorak. My Qwerty is at an average 90 WPM, but I decided to take up Dvorak as well, and currently I'm at an average 50 WPM. I've been having accuracy problems recently, which makes me feel disheartened, but a few more weeks of practicing will sort it out! Maybe in ten years I'll be incredibly good! Or maybe I'll be... ... No no, let's not think about that. I also started doing pomodoros since 1 March, and since then I've been doing them almost every day, at an average 7 per day. Here's a link to the website I'm using, as well as my timer data (hopefully doesn't get hacked?): https://pomodoro-tracker.com/user/67475 I heard there's a new pomodoro app coming soon called "Focusbyte". Seems interesting, so I might try it when it releases. Between doing pomodoros and other school work, I've been playing a lot of deeeep.io, the animal game that you sucked at last year (please tell me you're a pro in 2021). I get bummed out quite a bit because I'm not a gamer at heart, so I always get wrecked 70% of the time. Teamers are a goddamn pain. The other 30% is golden, though. Also, last year was the year I got an Reddit and Instagram account, if you're wondering. IG in July, Reddit in December while on the trip to ____________ (true "home"). I also got a Discord account that year, though I don't use it as much. As of now I have 7.4K Reddit karma. I wonder how it'll increase over the next decade. I don't have much else to say! Of course, I'll have to leave some other things for the other 7 emails I still have to write. The next one is in ___ months time! I'll leave you to wonder when exactly, mwa ha ha ha! Hey. If you ever feel down or sad, don't worry. Look at the better things in life. I don't know what will come charging your way in the next few years, but I hope that they're a mix of many good things with a few bad things to guide the way forward. I hope you make some new friends over the next decade, and I god darn hope you don't get depression or crippling anxiety. Your past self will be very cross! If you feel like crap or worse, do something. Read a book, look out into the distance and imagine a story, think about the good times you've had over the last 16 years of life. And no matter what, never give up, unless there is truly no way out. Then at least you know you did your best. And don't forget, when you have enough luck to spare, could you send it back in time to your past selves? We really need it, and I think the last time I've done it, it's worked. That's all for now. Have a good one, will you? This is life. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Annoyed at too, but that's life, isn't it?
