Peaceful right?

Dear Future Anna: You have come a really long way in the past year. You went through your first break-up, your first casual relationship, and your first car accident. You dealt with these with varying degrees of difficulty, but you made it through all of them. You forgave yourself for a lot of things, and also have a few more things to forgive. You did one really really important thing that you shouldn't forget. You sought treatment for depression. Going on medication was the best thing you ever did for yourself, and you should be proud of it, even in 2017. A lot of things became clear after that, like why you felt that you had lost touch with people you cared about, why you felt like no one liked you for a really long time, and why you couldn't get out of bed. But now you get out of bed, you've reconnected with some people that are really important to your happiness, and you like yourself again. That's huge. Keep that up. You've done a lot for yourself this year. You joined pep band, and right now it is making you really happy. If you hadn't gotten serious about treating your depression, you never would have gone after pep band. But now you're playing in a music program that actually brings you a sense of fulfillment, and you're getting paid for it!! Nice!!! There are still some gaps you're looking to fill, and that's okay. You need a job. Not just money, you need a way to feel like you're contributing to your future. Maybe that won't even come in the form of a job, but maybe you will find a way to be at peace with the efforts you ARE making now. You got fired this year. Again. That sucked. It took a lot out of your self confidence, but you made it through. And you WILL find someplace that appreciates you and your talents. You ARE talented. You just have to stop letting employers decide that for you. You're going to be alright, even if you haven't found anything by the time you get this e-mail. The only thing you need to find is a way to feel comfortable with where you are. You need to learn to let go of the things you can't control and stop questioning the things you may never get an answer for. Just keep moving forward, baby. You've come so far and I know you won't stop any time soon. Happy New Year, girlie. Sincerely, 2016 Anna
