Dear Future Emma,
I reread that cracked article about harsh truths that can help improve your life tonight.
It is mostly kinda rude and blunt and uncompromising but it's also pretty awesome.
If you want to work here, close.
The point of the article is that you are only what you do. Being a nice person doesn't mean shit.
So I am going to take the author's advice and do stuff, by this time next year I am going to have learnt how to drive, speak very broken terrible Hindi and weigh 135 pounds or less.
I'm not saying that I do nothing now, I'm just saying let's do these things too. Cos losing weight and driving and speaking really bad Hindi might just count as closing.
And you want to work here, close.
So Emma in July 2015 reading this email and probably thinking shit I forgot all about this, that's ok.
If we don't weigh like 40lbs less and half understanding the BBC Asian network playing on the car stereo it's fine.
Don't worry, just go reread the article and try again.
Wish me luck. Look forward to being you soon.
Em. 19:58 30th July 2014
